Overview

Orsat LLC is an air monitoring company based in Houston Texas USA, Each site has its own equipment to process compounds (PerkinElmer Chromatograph), this equipment traps air every hour to process analyze the compounds in the air. All sites must conduct Quality Control checks based on the following criteria:

All sites belong to a certain network and their respective network will be the basis of which of the target compounds listed on the figure below will belong to their site’s target compounds, But the site will be responsible for identifying the compound and data pertaining to that compound.

Each compound has its concentration, area, rts and channel. After the site equipment has analyzed and measured the data of the compounds, the site equipment will generate a zip file containing the following information:

  • MMSD(Excel file containing the current QA/QC of the site)
  • Raw File(Millivolt recordings of the chromatograph)
  • TXO file(a text file containing the properties of all target compounds)

Afterwards the site operator has to make sure that the equipment functioned correctly by checking if there are abnormalities in the data recorded, if there are none the site operator will send the zip files to the corporate FTP. After the zip files has been uploaded in the ftp, a validator will check the files with deeper scrutiny to check if the data recorded is actually valid data, if it is not valid data the validator must try to recover the validity of the data, if the validator succeeds the data can be used to generate an AIRS file.

An Airs File is the final output of the flow and is the file that will be submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
